SUMMARY AS PASSED SENATE:
Sales and use tax exemption; nonprofit civic and community service. Provides a sales and use tax exemption beginning July 1, 2001, and ending July 1, 2005, to the following 501 (c) (3) organizations: Manterfly Youth Development, Inc.; International Christian Centers for the Deaf, Inc.; Parents and Researchers Interested in Smith-Magenis Syndrome (PRISMS), Inc.; Children's Advocacy Center of Bristol/Washington County, Virginia, Inc.; Boat People S.O.S., Inc.; KidsPeace National Centers for Kids in Crisis of North America, Inc.; Robert and Dee Leggett Foundation; Madison Emergency Services Association (MESA), Inc.; AIDS Response Effort, Inc.; Housing Partnerships, Inc.; HomeBase of the Virginia Peninsula, Inc.; Richmond Metro Workcamp, Inc.; and The United Civic League of Cavalier Manor. Sales and use tax exemption; AIDS Response Effort, Inc. Provides a sales and use tax exemption beginning July 1, 2001, and ending July 1, 2005, to a 501 (c) (3) corporation that provides direct services to those persons suffering from the Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) or infected with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and educates the public regarding AIDS and its prevention.
