AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE

A BILL to require public bodies to solicit certain responsible bidders or offerors.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. § 1. That, to obtain responses to Requests for Proposals or Invitations to Bid for goods or nonprofessional services to remediate computers, software programs, databases, networks, or information systems which are not compliant with the "Year 2000" date change and such goods or services are to be procured through competitive negotiation or competitive sealed bidding pursuant to the Virginia Public Procurement Act (§ 11-35 et seq.), public bodies shall directly solicit responsible bidders or offerors who provide such remediation in Virginia and may solicit other responsible bidders or offerors to provide such remediation.

2. That the provisions of this act shall expire on January 1, 2001.
