SENATE BILL NO. 811 FLOOR AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE (Proposed by Senator Cuccinelli on February 4, 2009) (Patron Prior to Substitute--Senator Cuccinelli) A BILL relating to the Board for Contractors; certified elevator mechanics.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. § 1. That the Virginia Board for Contractors shall extend the time for compliance with the requirements of § 54.1-1141 of the Code of Virginia until July 1, 2010, for individuals who install, service, or repair wheelchair lifts, incline chairlifts, dumbwaiters, and residential elevators.

§ 2. That the Board for Contractors shall convene a group of stakeholders to evaluate the level of regulation appropriate for individuals who install, service, or repair wheelchair lifts, incline chairlifts, dumbwaiters, residential elevators, and Limited Use Limited Application (LULA) elevators and make recommendations for legislation to the Senate Committee on General Laws and Technology and the House Committee on General Laws on or before November 30, 2009.
