SUMMARY AS PASSED SENATE: (all summaries)
Requirements for political campaign advertisements; increased civil penalties. Increases the civil penalty from an amount not to exceed $100 to an amount not to exceed $1,000 for violations of the basic requirements and from an amount not to exceed $500 to an amount not to exceed $1,000 for violations of special requirements for radio and television advertisements. The bill also provides for a civil penalty not to exceed $2,500 for a violation occurring during the 14 days before or on election day, and it raises from $5,000 to $10,000 the cap on penalties for multiple broadcasts of one advertisement. As passed, this bill is identical to HB 1177.
