SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Minimum wage. Provides that the cash wage paid to a tipped employee shall not be less than $5.00 per hour and that the tip credit shall equal the difference between the $5.00 cash wage required to be paid to a tipped employee and the minimum wage. Under current federal law, the minimum cash wage for tipped employees is $2.13 and the maximum tip credit that an employer can currently claim is $5.12 per hour based on a minimum wage of $7.25 per hour.
