SUMMARY AS PASSED:

Sense of the General Assembly; speech and hearing professionals. Requests the Department of Health Professions and the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation, with the assistance of the Speech-Language-Hearing Association of Virginia, the Virginia Association of Hearing Aid Specialists, Inc. and interested consumers, to study the advisability of merging the Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology and the Board of Hearing Aid Specialists.

Requests the Department of Health Professions and the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation, with the assistance of the Speech-Language-Hearing Association of Hearing Aid Specialists, Inc. and interested consumers, to study the advisability of merging the Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology and the Board of Hearing Aid Specialists.

Sense of the General Assembly; speech and hearing professionals. Encourages the Speech and Hearing Association of Virginia and the Virginia Association for Hearing Aid Specialists, along with their respective licensing boards, to continue their discussions regarding the possible merger of their respective boards to make it easier for customers to have a site specific for the filing of complaints.
