Introduced by: John J. Davies III | all patrons    ...    notes | add to my profiles | history

SUMMARY AS PASSED:

Cover sheets; circuit court clerks. Allows the circuit court clerks of Richmond County, Franklin County, Wise County, and Greene County and the City of Norton to request that a cover sheet be filled out on all real estate documents which provides pertinent information to the clerk for indexing purposes. This same provision was added in 1998 for the clerks of Wise County and the City of Norton through an uncodified act. This bill codifies that act. The pilot projects created by these enactments expire on July 1, 2002. This bill is identical to HB 1452.

SUMMARY AS PASSED HOUSE:

Courts of record; indexing by tax map reference number; use of cover sheets. Adds Greene County to the list of localities whose circuit court clerks may request deeds submitted for recordation to include a cover sheet detailing the information contained in the deed or other instrument necessary for the clerk to properly index the instrument. Wise County, Franklin County, and the City of Norton were granted this allowance in 1998 by Act of Assembly. This section sunsets on July 1, 2002.
