1999 SESSION
WHEREAS, in May 1998, 236,444 members of the Class of 1999 worldwide took the College Board’s Advanced Placement exams, which give high school seniors the opportunity to earn college credit or place out of college courses while still in high school; and
WHEREAS, Jacob Foster, a resident of White Post and a senior at Woodberry Forest School in Madison County, made the highest possible score on 11 Advanced Placement exams; and
WHEREAS, Jacob Foster scored perfect “5s” on all 11 exams, in subjects ranging from French literature to calculus, from modern European history to biology, from Latin to physics; and
WHEREAS, Jacob Foster’s incredible achievement placed him number one in the world, as no other student currently in high school has scored so well on so many Advanced Placement tests; and
WHEREAS, currently enrolled in 10 courses at Woodberry Forest School, which is twice the normal load, Jacob Foster will graduate with more than 30 credits, compared with an average student’s 20; and
WHEREAS, in November 1998, Jacob Foster received the results of his SAT tests, and to no one’s surprise, he scored a perfect 1600; and
WHEREAS, Jacob Foster has established an unmatchable record of academic achievement, a record remarkable for both the depth of his knowledge and the breadth of his interests; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Jacob Foster for his astonishing academic success; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jacob Foster as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations and best wishes for an undoubtedly very bright future.
