1998 SESSION
HJ 246 Study; church trustees.
Introduced by: Dwight Clinton Jones | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Study; Church trustees. This resolution would have established a joint subcommittee to study the statutory duties and responsibilities of church trustees. The joint subcommittee is requested to conduct a comprehensive review of the statutes pertaining to church trustees, examine the statutory provisions in light of contemporary church practices and the potential for abuse, determine whether such statutes require updating, and recommend appropriate amendments to ensure the relevancy of state laws in this area to contemporary thought and practices. However, the resolution was passed by indefinitely in lieu of a letter from the Speaker to the House Courts Committee to conduct the study.
