980836466Whereas, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University holds by deeds of gift real property, approximately 64 acres, located off State Highway 91 in Smyth County on the north side of Saltville; and
Whereas, VPI&SU no longer uses this property for a field station; and
Whereas, the Town of Saltville is in a position to utilize the building and grounds of the existing field station for various beneficial public purposes; now, therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. That the Commonwealth of Virginia is hereby authorized to convey by gift, with the approval of the Governor and in a form approved by the Attorney General, to the Town of Saltville, certain property held by Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University by deeds of gift and located off Virginia State Highway 91 in Smyth County, on the north side of the Town of Saltville. Such property, on which is located the building known as the VPI Field Station, is the same property which was granted to VPI&SU by deeds of gift from Olin Corporation, dated July 22,1970, and December 13, 1973, and recorded in the land records of Smyth County, Virginia, in Deed Book 238, page 811, and Deed Book 261, page 732, respectively. The appropriate officials of the Commonwealth are hereby authorized to prepare, execute, and deliver such deed and other documents as may be necessary to accomplish such conveyance.
