SUMMARY:
Default in student loans; suspension of licenses. Authorizes the regulatory boards of the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation and the Department of Health Professions; the State Corporation Commission; and the Virginia State Bar to refuse to renew or suspend the license or certificate of certain persons who are in default in the repayment of any student loans guaranteed by the Virginia Student Assistance Authority and are not paying in a satisfactory manner as determined by the repayment requirements of the United States Department of Education for reinstatement of borrower loan eligibility. The bill requires each agency, with the advice of the Virginia Student Assistance Authority, to adopt rules necessary to implement the requirements of the bill.
