SUMMARY:
Freedom of Information Act; release of tax and employment information. Allows private attorneys acting as agents of the Commonwealth or localities to access certain tax records in order to collect fines, costs, penalties, delinquencies, and receivables owed to the Commonwealth or localities. The Virginia Employment Commission is authorized to release information to any agency or political subdivision of the Commonwealth for the purpose of collecting fines, penalties and costs. Violation of the confidentiality restrictions on the use of this information is punishable as a Class 2 misdemeanor.
