SUMMARY:
Campaign fundraising activities; legislative sessions. Prohibits members of the General Assembly, the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General from soliciting or accepting campaign contributions for members' or statewide officials' campaign committees during the annual regular session. The bill also prohibits any person or political committee from making or promising to make any contribution to these officials' campaign committees during the prohibited period. The restrictions do not apply to contributions by members and statewide officials of their personal funds, contributions for special elections, and contributions solicited by members or statewide officials for political party and caucus committees. Civil penalties are imposed equal to the amount of the prohibited contribution or $500, whichever is greater.
