SUMMARY:
Crimes; brandishing a firearm and assault against police officer. Makes it a Class 6 felony to brandish a firearm in a manner that causes a police officer, while performing his duties, to fear being shot or injured. Under current law, the offense in a Class 1 misdemeanor. The bill also raises from a Class 1 misdemeanor to a Class 6 felony assault and battery with a firearm against a police officer.
