971395722WHEREAS, it is highly desirable that the development of the Commonwealth's transportation system [ continue to ] take into consideration the interests, needs, and contributions unique to each transportation mode; and
WHEREAS, it is likewise desirable that the interests, needs, and contributions
of bicyclists and pedestrians be considered; [ and
WHEREAS, there is presently no mechanism to ensure that those interests,
needs, and contributions are considered; ] now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the
Commonwealth Transportation Commissioner be requested to designate [ for
each highway construction district one employee of the Department of
Transportation to serve as bicycle/pedestrian coordinator for that
district a bicycle/pedestrian coordinator for each highway construction
district ] . [ It shall be the responsibility of each bicycle/pedestrian
coordinator to form a bicycle/pedestrian advisory committee composed of
interested residents of the district. ]
