HB 852 Future Services Contract Act.

SUMMARY:

Trade and Commerce; Future Services Contracts Act. Establishes the Future Services Contracts Act which governs any contract that obligates a consumer to purchase a future service from a provider. The Act specifically covers martial arts instruction, lawn maintenance and dating services. The bill gives a purchaser under the Act a statutory three-day right of cancellation and makes violation of the Future Services Contracts Act a violation of the Consumer Protection Act. Additionally, contracts that do not comply with the Act's provisions are voidable at the option of the purchaser. The bill's provisions are applicable only to those counties with an urban county executive form of government.
