SUMMARY:
Certificates of public need; moratorium; exception. Provides an exception to the moratorium on the acceptance of applications for nursing facility projects that propose to increase the number of beds in which licensed nursing facility or extended care services are rendered for a nonprofit hospital located in Smyth County, Virginia, for the conversion onsite of fourteen existing licensed acute care beds to skilled nursing facility beds (SNF) in order to serve a specialty heavy care patient population, such as ventilator dependent, AIDS patients, and patients with complex medical conditions requiring skilled nursing facility services, as defined by the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services.
This moratorium is set to expire on July 1, 1996; however, no facility will be allowed to apply for a certificate and the Commissioner will not be authorized to accept, review, or approve any application between now and July 1.
