1996 SESSION
HB 712 Separate contracts for teachers for extracurricular activities.
Introduced by: Clarence E. Phillips | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Separate contracts for teachers. Requires school boards to provide separate written contracts for teachers responsible for an extracurricular activity sponsorship. "Extracurricular activity sponsorship" is defined as an assignment for which a monetary supplement is received, requiring responsibility for any student organizations, clubs, or groups, such as service clubs, academic clubs and teams, cheerleading squads, student publication and literary groups, and visual and performing arts organizations, except those activities that are conducted in conjunction with regular classroom, curriculum, or instructional programs. Termination of the sponsorship contract does not affect the original teaching contract. Under current law, separate written contracts are required for compensated athletic coaching assignments that supplement a teaching position.
