A BILL to allow certain circuit court clerks discretion to accept credit card payment in lieu of cash for fines and costs.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. § 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of § 19.2-353.3, the clerk of the circuit court or the chief judge of the district court in the County of Franklin, Patrick, Henry or Floyd may, in his discretion, accept credit card payment in lieu of money to collect and secure all fees, fines, restitution, forfeiture, penalties, and costs collected for offenses tried in circuit or district court, including motor vehicle violations, committed against the Commonwealth or against any such county.
