1995 SESSION
HB 2121 Term contracts for teachers and administrators.
Introduced by: Phillip A. Hamilton | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY:
Term contracts for teachers and administrators. Eliminates continuing contract status for teachers and administrators and establishes term contract status for those school personnel who have completed the required three-year probationary period. These term contracts are five years in length; the school board and the teacher must give written notice of noncontinuation of the term contract by April 15 of each year. Absent this notice, the term contract will continue for the ensuing year according to its terms, similar to the present procedure for continuing contracts. All teachers, regardless of whether they have achieved term contract status, would be afforded grievance procedure protections similar to those currently granted to continuing contract teachers. Dismissal during the term contract would be grievable. Failure to grant a teacher a new term contract upon expiration of a previous term, however, would not be grievable.
