Introduced by: L. Karen Darner | all patrons    ...    notes | add to my profiles

SUMMARY:

Braille instruction for visually impaired children. Requires that when developing the Individualized Education Plan for students with visual impairment, the presumption must be that proficiency in literacy is essential for satisfactory educational progress. Braille instruction will not be required if other services are more appropriate for the student and the delivery of such appropriate services will not preclude Braille instruction. Braille and program are defined. The Board of Education must require publishers of textbooks adopted by it to furnish electronic text from which Braille versions may be produced when the technology is available.
