SUMMARY:
Permitting sewerage systems and sewage treatment works. Eliminates the role of the Virginia Department of Health in issuing permits for sewerage systems and sewage treatment works and providing technical assistance to localities and other owners of such facilities. The existing authority of the State Water Control Board to regulate sewage effluent into state waters is retained as is the existing authority of the Board of Health to regulate permitting of on-site sewage systems (septic systems and drain fields and alternative on-site systems).
