HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 480
Commending the Williamsburg Area Medical Assistance Corporation/Olde Towne Medical Center.

WHEREAS, the Olde Towne Medical Center is a private, nonprofit corporation providing preventive, chronic, and primary health care to the residents of the City of Williamsburg and the Counties of James City and York; and

WHEREAS, the Olde Towne Medical Center helps meet the health care needs of approximately 5,000 indigent patients; and

WHEREAS, the General Assembly has designated the provision of primary and preventive medical care to the indigent as a "priority issue" in the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, the Olde Towne Medical Center is a unique public-private initiative that combines the resources of local governments, the Peninsula Health District, Williamsburg Community Hospital, numerous volunteers, and approximately 30 volunteer private physicians and medical professionals; and

WHEREAS, the Olde Towne Medical Center demonstrates that cost-effective and efficient medical care can be provided through public-private cooperation and the dedication and compassion of private citizens and physicians; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend the Olde Towne Medical Center for its outstanding work in providing no-cost or affordable health care to the indigent of Williamsburg, James City, and York; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Olde Towne Medical Center as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for the worthy goals and exceptional achievements of this outstanding organization.
