HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 478 Offered January 18, 1995 On the death of George Kanelos. ---------- Patrons--Grayson; Senator: Norment ----------

WHEREAS, George Kanelos, a Williamsburg businessman and active church member, died on January 10, 1995; and

WHEREAS, a resident of Williamsburg for over two decades, George Kanelos, with his wife, Helen, owned and operated Giorgio’s Pizza Shoppe for the past 15 years; and

WHEREAS, for many years an active member of Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Newport News, George Kanelos formerly served on the Board of Trustees; and

WHEREAS, active in the community, George Kanelos was a 40-year member of AHEPA and was also a member of the VFW; and

WHEREAS, George Kanelos was a popular and well-respected member of the Williamsburg area business community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly note with sadness the passing of George Kanelos; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of George Kanelos as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
