Commending Boyd T. Allison, Jr.

WHEREAS, Boyd T. Allison, Jr., an honorable veteran and esteemed mortgage banker, greatly served the Commonwealth as longtime legislative chair of the Virginia Mortgage Bankers Association; and

WHEREAS, after graduating from Old Dominion University in 1979, where he was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity, Boyd Allison worked for Federated Department Stores, Inc., in loss prevention before commissioning in the United States Navy; and

WHEREAS, Boyd Allison served his country with honor and distinction as a naval aviator in the United States Navy and then later as a member of the United States Coast Guard Reserve from 1990 to 2003; and

WHEREAS, Boyd Allison worked for some time as a licensed stockbroker in both New York City and Richmond before beginning his career in the mortgage industry as a senior account executive with Triad Guaranty; and

WHEREAS, over his illustrious 36-year career in the mortgage industry, Boyd Allison worked for several distinguished companies, including Triad Guaranty, Republic Mortgage Insurance Company, United Guaranty, Radian, United First Mortgage, and Integrity Home Mortgage Corporation; and

WHEREAS, Boyd Allison greatly aided the advancement of the mortgage industry in the Commonwealth as the legislative chair of the Virginia Mortgage Bankers Association (VMBA) from 1994 to 2023; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of his efforts, Boyd Allison was the recipient of the VMBA President’s Award in 2004, 2008, and 2015; the inaugural VMBA Bill Axselle Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018; and the VMBA Alex McCrone Award in 1995, 2006, 2011, and 2019; and

WHEREAS, beyond the VMBA, Boyd Allison also served his professional community locally as the president of the Richmond Mortgage Bankers Association in 2006; and

WHEREAS, Boyd Allison has supported and enjoyed camaraderie with his fellow veterans as a member and past post commander of the American Legion Post 354 in Chesterfield County; and

WHEREAS, in addition to his work in the mortgage industry, Boyd Allison has also worked as a licensed auctioneer since 2005 and was a licensed realtor from 1991 to 1999 and 2008 to 2020; and

WHEREAS, a proud alumnus, Boyd Allison served as president of the Old Dominion University Alumni Association and as a member of the Old Dominion University Educational Foundation Board of Trustees from 2003 to 2004; and

WHEREAS, with an unwavering commitment to the mission and values of the VMBA, Boyd Allison has contributed immeasurably to the well-being and prosperity of the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Boyd T. Allison, Jr., hereby be commended for his service and dedication as a veteran of the United States Navy and as legislative chair of the Virginia Mortgage Bankers Association; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Boyd T. Allison, Jr., as an expression of the Senate of Virginia’s admiration for his contributions to the country and the Commonwealth.
