SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 142
Celebrating the life of Phyllis Ann Strouth.

 

Agreed to by the Senate, March 8, 2024

 

WHEREAS, Phyllis Ann Strouth, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother in Wise, died on January 23, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Phyllis Strouth grew up in Kentucky and attended the former Fleming-Neon High School, where she was a talented member of the marching band; and

WHEREAS, Phyllis Strouth was a loyal alumna of Fleming-Neon High School and was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame; in later life, she was reunited with the drum she used during her school years and proudly played it for her family; and

WHEREAS, Phyllis Strouth, best known as “Mom” or “Nan” to her beloved family, was an outstanding cook, who demonstrated her care for others by preparing delicious, nourishing meals and making sure no one left her house hungry; and

WHEREAS, Phyllis Strouth was deeply devoted to the safety and well-being of her children, and she relished every opportunity to share her lifetime of wisdom with them; and

WHEREAS, predeceased by her first husband, Douglas, Phyllis Strouth will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her husband of 13 years, Philemon; her children, Cuba and Douglas, Jr., and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of Virginia hereby note with great sadness the loss of Phyllis Ann Strouth; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Phyllis Ann Strouth as an expression of the Senate of Virginia’s respect for her memory.
