Commending Zoya Bitici.

WHEREAS, Zoya Bitici, an esteemed clothing designer and co-founder of Zoya’s Atelier in Falls Church, has greatly served the Northern Virginia community for several years; and

WHEREAS, Zoya Bitici was born in Montenegro to Albanian parents and immigrated to the United States with her family as a young girl; and

WHEREAS, Zoya Bitici cultivated her passion for fashion from an early age by recreating gowns she saw in magazines and later honed her pattern-making, draping, and couture techniques at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT); and

WHEREAS, after working for some time as an accessories designer and graduating from FIT, Zoya Bitici opened her own design studio in New York City in the fall of 1993, where she concentrated on custom-made couture and evening gowns; and

WHEREAS, in addition to running her New York studio, Zoya Bitici also taught advanced couture classes at the Parsons School of Design for some time, providing valuable mentorship to the next generation of fashion designers; and

WHEREAS, in 2001, Zoya Bitici relocated to New Jersey and opened a boutique featuring ready-to-wear clothing for women, beautiful handbags and accessories, wedding gowns, and custom-made designs; and

WHEREAS, building on her decades of industry knowledge and experience, Zoya Bitici co-founded Zoya’s Atelier in Falls Church in 2016, which quickly became a premier destination in the region for bridal and evening wear; and

WHEREAS, as a testament to Zoya Bitici’s success, Zoya’s Atelier has been recognized as a top wedding vendor and bridal boutique by a number of prominent publications and websites, including Virginia Living, Arlington Magazine, WeddingWire, Washingtonian magazine, and The Knot; and

WHEREAS, Zoya Bitici’s efforts have helped countless individuals feel beautiful and confident at their weddings and other special events, earning her the respect and admiration of all Virginians; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Zoya Bitici hereby be commended for her accomplishments with Zoya’s Atelier; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Zoya Bitici as an expression of the Senate of Virginia’s appreciation for her contributions to the Northern Virginia community.
