SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 241
Commending Jack Norcross.

WHEREAS, in 2024, Jack Norcross, an alumnus of Herndon High School, won a Regional Emmy Award for his role as supervising producer of the morning show on WCNC Charlotte in Charlotte, North Carolina; and

WHEREAS, Jack Norcross grew up in Reston, graduated from Herndon High School, and previously worked as an executive producer and anchor for Herndon Community Television; and

WHEREAS, a graduate of the Elon University School of Communications, Jack Norcross settled in Charlotte where he joined the local NBC affiliate WCNC Charlotte as a producer-in-residence, then became supervising producer of the 6:00 a.m. morning show “Wake Up Charlotte”; and

WHEREAS, in May 2023, Jack Norcross and his team reported on a fire that resulted in the deaths of two construction workers; his exceptional leadership helped the team respond to the developing story and provide timely and effective coverage; and

WHEREAS, for his outstanding performance, Jack Norcross and the “Wake Up Charlotte” team were recognized at the 38th Annual Nashville/Midsouth Emmy Awards on February 17, 2024, earning a Regional Emmy Award in the Morning Newscast category; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Jack Norcross, winner of a 2024 Regional Emmy Award, for his commitment to high-quality journalism; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jack Norcross as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for his accomplishments and best wishes.
