2024 SESSION
WHEREAS, Emily Beer, a member of the Richmond community who devoted her life to helping and supporting others, died on January 1, 2024; and
WHEREAS, Emily Beer lived in the Commonwealth for more than a decade and was a talented entrepreneur who owned a successful graphic design business; and
WHEREAS, outside of her career, Emily Beer was a passionate activist who supported a number of nonprofit organizations, charities, and causes at the local, state, and national levels; and
WHEREAS, Emily Beer was a longtime volunteer with the Virginia Young Democrats, Member Services Director for the Virginia House Democratic Caucus, and design consultant for many campaigns, causes, and local businesses; and
WHEREAS, Emily Beer was deeply spiritual, a fiercely loyal friend, boundless in her kindness and service to others, unselfish with her time and with sharing the wit, good humor, and wisdom she accumulated over her years in politics; and
WHEREAS, Emily Beer found great joy in spending time with her beloved dog, Honey, and sampling the Commonwealth’s many fine restaurants, with a penchant for dim sum, hot pot, and dessert; and
WHEREAS, Emily Beer spent her life ensuring that other people were happy, healthy, and successful; she never said “no” to a friend, was quick to empathize when there was a challenge, and the first to offer assistance or unfiltered advice, asking for nothing in return; and
WHEREAS, Emily Beer mentored the next generation of leaders to act with empathy and purpose toward giving back to their communities through acts of service; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Emily Beer; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Emily Beer as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory.
