SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 201 Offered March 4, 2024 Commending Fredericksburg Fallen Heroes. ----------

WHEREAS, Fredericksburg Fallen Heroes is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has greatly served the Fredericksburg community by supporting its veterans and first responders; and

WHEREAS, Fredericksburg Fallen Heroes was founded in 2016 with an initial objective to support the Wreaths Across America program, which carries out wreath-laying ceremonies at cemeteries to honor the sacrifices made by our nation’s veterans; and

WHEREAS, recognizing the need to assist veterans and first responders, Fredericksburg Fallen Heroes diversified its efforts and began providing monetary support and other opportunities to veterans and first responders, including its Fallen Heroes 5 Miler race and annual barbecue; and

WHEREAS, since its founding, Fredericksburg Fallen Heroes has made a difference in the lives of more than 10,000 families, while also providing physical assistance to hundreds of veterans and first responders; and

WHEREAS, driven by their mission to support those who dedicate their lives to service, the members of Fredericksburg Fallen Heroes, including President Leisa Billington, Vice President Jimmy Werling, and Treasurer Lorijean Brady, have made a profound and lasting impact on the Fredericksburg community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Fredericksburg Fallen Heroes for its legacy of service to veterans and first responders; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Fredericksburg Fallen Heroes as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for the organization’s mission and best wishes for its continued success.
