Commending C. Thomas Tiller, Jr.

WHEREAS, C. Thomas Tiller, Jr., an esteemed public servant, retired from the New Kent County Board of Supervisors in 2023; and

WHEREAS, since the 1980s, C. Thomas “Tommy” Tiller, Jr., has lived in New Kent County with his family and owned a painting and wallcovering business that operates in the area; and

WHEREAS, Tommy Tiller embarked upon his career in public service following an appointment in 1988 to what was then the New Kent County Safety and Transportation Board; and

WHEREAS, Tommy Tiller was appointed in 2004 to the New Kent County Planning Commission, where he served for eight years before being elected District 2 representative on the New Kent County Board of Supervisors; and

WHEREAS, Tommy Tiller proudly served his constituents and worked tirelessly to advocate on behalf of their interests and concerns over his 12 years on the New Kent County Board of Supervisors; and

WHEREAS, Tommy Tiller was selected to serve as chair of the New Kent County Board of Supervisors in 2015, 2019, and 2023 and also remained on the New Kent County Planning Commission as the board representative for the past 12 years; and

WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the New Kent County Board of Supervisors during Tommy Tiller’s tenure include new public facilities, such as a fire station, park, library, school, and medical center, and several notable ventures that have improved the locality’s marketability to new businesses; and

WHEREAS, Tommy Tiller’s deep commitment to his community and the residents of New Kent County have helped to make the locality a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That C. Thomas Tiller, Jr., hereby be commended for his service on the New Kent County Board of Supervisors; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to C. Thomas Tiller, Jr., as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for his contributions to the Commonwealth and best wishes in his future endeavors.
