Commending Peggy James.

WHEREAS, Peggy James, a small business advocate and executive director of the Vienna Business Association and the Greater Merrifield Business Association, has greatly served the chambers’ respective communities for many years; and

WHEREAS, over her tenure at the Vienna Business Association (VBA), Peggy James has provided many innovative ideas to advocate for local small businesses; and

WHEREAS, Peggy James has overseen and actively supported the VBA in its efforts to host popular events in the Vienna community, such as its Oktoberfest, Church Street Holiday Stroll, and Artisan Holiday Market; and

WHEREAS, Peggy James was instrumental to the development of a local chamber of commerce whose entire focus was helping small and local businesses succeed and also encouraged the chamber to support nonprofit organizations; and

WHEREAS, with deep ties to the Vienna community, Peggy James has helped many local businesses flourish, and she provided particularly vital leadership as she guided many businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic; and

WHEREAS, through her steadfast dedication to the businesses and organizations she serves, Peggy James has helped to make Vienna a more wonderful and prosperous place to live, work, and run a business; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Peggy James hereby be commended for her accomplishments over her tenure with the Vienna Business Association and the Greater Merrifield Business Association; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Peggy James as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for her dedication to supporting local businesses in the region.
