HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 397 Offered March 7, 2024 Commending Simone Bergeron. ---------- Patrons-- Seibold, Green, Hope, Lopez, Martinez, Owen and Rasoul ----------

WHEREAS, Simone Bergeron, formerly of James Madison High School, won her second consecutive individual state title at the Virginia High School League Class 6 state tennis championship in June 2023; and

WHEREAS, during her senior season, Simone Bergeron won Concorde District and Region 6D North individual titles, then defeated Sofia Raval of Battlefield High School in two sets to finish with a perfect 19–0 record; and

WHEREAS, Simone Bergeron compiled an impressive 49–2 record over the course of her high school career and was undefeated both her junior and senior seasons; and

WHEREAS, Simone Bergeron also achieved great success off the tennis court and was selected as the senior class speaker; after graduation, she matriculated at Elon University, where she continues to play tennis; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Simone Bergeron hereby be commended on winning the Virginia High School League Class 6 individual state tennis title in 2023; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Simone Bergeron as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for her athletic achievements and best wishes for the future.
