WHEREAS, Mike Wallace, owner of Salmy Kennel in Frederick County, was inducted into the Field Trial Hall of Fame at the National Bird Dog Museum in Grand Junction, Tennessee, on February 10, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Mike Wallace has been an established breeder of Field Bred English Springer Spaniels since the 1980s and has bred 10 generations of dogs in the Salmy Line; and

WHEREAS, as a professional trainer, Mike Wallace has trained approximately 100 championship-winning dogs and is a five-time winner of the Martin J. Hogan Memorial Award, which recognizes the top professional handler of the year; and

WHEREAS, three dogs that were bred, trained, and campaigned by Mike Wallace have also been inducted into the Field Trial Hall of Fame, and he has volunteered his expertise as a judge for multiple hall of fame trials over the years; and

WHEREAS, Mike Wallace is also the founder of the Central Virginia English Springer Spaniel Field Trial Club and has supported a volunteer club in Tennessee; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Mike Wallace hereby be commended on the occasion of his induction into the Field Trial Hall of Fame in 2024; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Mike Wallace as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for his contributions to the world of sporting dogs as a breeder and trainer.
