2024 SESSION
WHEREAS, Larry Donnell Winkler, Sr., a highly admired member of his community and a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, died on February 26, 2024; and
WHEREAS, Larry Donnell “Wink” Winkler, Sr., was born in Meherrin and served the nation as a member of the United States Army; and
WHEREAS, known for his exceptional work ethic, Wink Winkler pursued a 23-year career with the Safeway, Inc., supermarket chain and retired as a produce department manager; he also followed in his father’s footsteps to become a barber and helped countless clients from Richmond to Baltimore feel more confident and more stylish; and
WHEREAS, Wink Winkler’s proudest achievements in life were those as a caring father and grandfather; and
WHEREAS, Wink Winkler taught his daughter, Renee, everything he knew about good old-fashioned home cooking and the duo enjoyed many culinary adventures together, while he and his sons shared passions for classic cars and football, among other pursuits; and
WHEREAS, Wink Winkler never missed an opportunity to spend time with his beloved grandchildren and kept up with their energy through his boundless love and enthusiasm; and
WHEREAS, Wink Winkler brought joy to everyone he knew through his sense of humor, infectious laugh, and commitment to serving and supporting others; and
WHEREAS, Wink Winkler will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife of 52 years, Inez; his children, Larry, Jr. (Nkechi), Andre (Tanya), Jamaal, and Renee, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Larry Donnell Winkler, Sr.; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Larry Donnell Winkler, Sr., as an expression of the House of Delegates’ respect for his memory.
