HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 314
Commending CarolAnn Curran.
 
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 5, 2024
 

WHEREAS, CarolAnn Curran, an autism teacher and maritime science teacher at Ocean View Elementary School in Norfolk, spearheaded a micro wind turbine initiative at her school; and

WHEREAS, as a result of CarolAnn Curran’s efforts, Ocean View Elementary received a 30-foot-tall micro wind turbine, along with solar panels and two 12-volt energy storage batteries, which were provided through a partnership between the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation and the National Energy Education Development Project; and

WHEREAS, CarolAnn Curran’s initiative also provided Ocean View Elementary teachers with training on the use of the wind turbine data and related curriculum, enabling them to incorporate it into their lessons for students; and

WHEREAS, CarolAnn Curran, as well as students, teachers, and special guests, celebrated the dedication of Ocean View Elementary School’s micro wind turbine on January 25, 2024; and

WHEREAS, CarolAnn Curran’s accomplishments at Ocean View Elementary School have engaged her students with the natural world and developed their understanding of conservation and other environmental principles; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That CarolAnn Curran hereby be commended for the success of her micro wind turbine initiative at Ocean View Elementary School; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to CarolAnn Curran as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for her contributions to Ocean View Elementary School and the Commonwealth.
