HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 294 Commending the Radford University women's soccer team.   Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 5, 2024  

WHEREAS, the Radford University women’s soccer team won the Big South Conference regular season championship and the Big South Conference tournament championship in the 2023 season; and

WHEREAS, the Radford University Highlanders went 8–0 at home in the 2023 season, the fourth perfect home record in the program’s history; and

WHEREAS, the Radford University Highlanders brought home their ninth Big South tournament championship title after defeating the University of South Carolina Upstate Spartans by a score of 2–1 on November 5, 2023; and

WHEREAS, this past season, the Radford University Highlanders became the first Big South Conference team to reach the National Collegiate Athletic Association tournament 10 times; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of their exceptional play, eight members of the Radford University Highlanders received Big South all-conference awards, including Eileen Albers, Paige Olson, Helena Willson, Alexeis Kirnos, Jillian Silverstone, Lexi Radvanyi, Katelyn O’Donnell, and coach Ben Sohrabi; and

WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Radford University Highlanders are the result of the hard work and dedication of the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of their coaches and professors, and the unwavering support of their families and the entire Radford University community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Radford University women’s soccer team hereby be commended for winning the 2023 Big South Conference Championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Ben Sohrabi, head coach of the Radford University women’s soccer team, as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for the team’s achievement.
