24107186DWHEREAS, Nessa Baskerville Johnson, a beloved mother and friend who made many contributions to the Richmond community, died on April 27, 2023; and
WHEREAS, Nessa Johnson grew up in the Jackson Ward neighborhood of Richmond, graduated from Armstrong High School, and continued her education at Virginia Union University; and
WHEREAS, Nessa Johnson was a passionate advocate for social justice and a respected local historian; and
WHEREAS, Nessa Johnson created several inspiring pieces of art and literature over the course of her life, and she inspired others through her kindness, grace, and commitment to excellence in all her endeavors; and
WHEREAS, predeceased by one daughter, Patrice, Nessa Johnson will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her children, Abner III, Pierre, Petrea, and Bettina, and their families, and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Nessa Baskerville Johnson; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Nessa Baskerville Johnson as an expression of the House of Delegates’ respect for her memory.
