Commending Brothers Keepers.

WHEREAS, Brothers Keepers, a men’s organization dedicated to serving the community in Franklin, Isle of Wight County, and Southampton County, has fulfilled its mission to positively influence young men and those seeking guidance in their lives; and

WHEREAS, Brothers Keepers was established by the Reverend Dr. Anthony Goodwyn, who had a spiritual vision to form an organization that would benefit and support the residents of Franklin, Isle of Wight, and Southampton Counties; and

WHEREAS, Brothers Keepers works closely with its partner women’s organization, Women of Grace, Strength, and Dignity, and is guided by core values that are based on God and the principles of integrity, excellence, service to others, and trustworthiness; and

WHEREAS, Brothers Keepers is actively involved with the juvenile and domestic courts, Bon Secours medical group, and other civic organizations in its effort to be an instrument of change for the benefit of others; and

WHEREAS, Brothers Keepers is committed to feeding the community and has regularly held large Thanksgiving and holiday dinners that have been attended by hundreds; and

WHEREAS, Brother Keepers often hosts esteemed guest speakers at its bi-monthly meetings, including pastors, judges, police chiefs, financial advisors, and delegates, whose insightful talks have left a lasting impression not only on the group’s members but also on their families and the wider community; and

WHEREAS, the accomplishments of Brothers Keepers are the result of the hard work of its diverse membership of approximately 40 individuals, all of whom are committed to making a meaningful contribution to their community; and

WHEREAS, through steadfast determination and an unwavering commitment to the organization’s cause, the members of Brother Keepers have helped to make Franklin, Isle of Wight, and Southampton Counties more wonderful places to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Brothers Keepers of Franklin County hereby be commended for fulfilling its mission to positively influence young men and those seeking guidance in their lives; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Brothers Keepers as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for the organization’s legacy of service in Franklin, Isle of Wight, and Southampton Counties.
