HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 100 Commending the Northern Virginia Mental Health Foundation.   Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 12, 2024  

WHEREAS, the Northern Virginia Mental Health Foundation, an organization dedicated to providing support to individuals seeking public mental health services on their journeys to wellness and recovery, celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2023; and

WHEREAS, the Northern Virginia Mental Health Foundation (NVMHF) fulfills its mission by expediently delivering micro-grants to individuals in treatment at the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board; and

WHEREAS, over its history, NVMHF has supported more than 6,000 individuals in treatment by facilitating a variety of services, including medical and dental care, subsidized housing, and other wellness and recovery services; and

WHEREAS, NVMHF pursues its objectives with the generous support of individual and corporate donors and incurs minimal operating expenses to ensure that the vast majority of its fundraising goes directly toward meeting the treatment needs of those the organization serves; and

WHEREAS, since its founding, NVMHF has grown to become a vital safety net for individuals in Northern Virginia dealing with serious mental illness and an important ally in the community’s effort to help such individuals achieve healthy and productive lives; and

WHEREAS, the accomplishments of NVMHF would not be possible without the tireless efforts of the organization’s board members and volunteers, whose commitment to the well-being of others has made a positive and indelible impact on the Northern Virginia community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the House of Delegates hereby commend the Northern Virginia Mental Health Foundation on the occasion of the organization’s 30th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Northern Virginia Mental Health Foundation as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for the organization’s history and its contributions to the Commonwealth.
