2024 SESSION
24108706DWHEREAS, Esmeralda Ortiz, director of the Loudoun Child Advocacy Center, an initiative of Loudoun Citizens for Social Justice, Inc., doing business as LAWS Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services, has greatly served the Loudoun County community; and
WHEREAS, Esmeralda Ortiz joined LAWS in 2017 as a domestic violence and sexual assault program assistant and served more than 900 children and families impacted by child abuse in her capacity as a victim advocate and forensic interviewer; and
WHEREAS, bilingual in Spanish and English, Esmeralda Ortiz provides invaluable skills and expertise to facilitate LAWS’s work with Spanish-language speakers seeking the organization’s services; and
WHEREAS, Esmeralda Ortiz has been certified as an expert to provide testimony regarding child sexual abuse and forensic interviewing in court, helping numerous victims receive the justice they deserve; and
WHEREAS, Esmeralda Ortiz has been director of the Loudoun Child Advocacy Center since 2022, leading a multidisciplinary team that addresses child abuse in the community by enhancing the training of partners and by improving coordination and collaboration between stakeholders; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of her accomplishments in protecting and supporting victims, Esmeralda Ortiz was honored by the Loudoun County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office with a Victim Services Award in 2023; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Esmeralda Ortiz for her legacy of service with the Loudoun Child Advocacy Center; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Esmeralda Ortiz as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for her contributions to Loudoun County and the Commonwealth.
