HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 419 Offered March 4, 2024 Commending The Arc of Loudoun. ---------- Patrons-- Martinez; Senators: Perry and Subramanyam ----------

WHEREAS, The Arc of Loudoun is an organization dedicated to advocating for, educating, serving, and supporting people with disabilities and their families; and

WHEREAS, the origins of The Arc of Loudoun date to 1967, when a group of parents established a preschool to care for their children with disabilities; and

WHEREAS, from that initial venture, the Arc of Loudoun has grown and matured into a full-service organization that implements a variety of educational and therapeutic programs, creating a lifetime of opportunities for people with disabilities; and

WHEREAS, The Arc of Loudoun provides a wealth of amenities for individuals with disabilities and their families, including its Ability Fitness Center, A Life Like Yours (ALLY) Advocacy Center, Aurora Behavior Clinic, the Aurora School, and the Open Door Learning Center; and

WHEREAS, the activities of The Arc of Loudoun are grounded in the organization’s core values of safety, integrity, teamwork, empowerment, and success; and

WHEREAS, the accomplishments of The Arc of Loudoun in bringing about a just, equitable world for all people with disabilities is the result of the visionary leadership of the organization’s officers and directors, the tireless efforts of its volunteers and staff, and the unwavering support of its partners and the entire Loudoun County community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend The Arc of Loudoun for its legacy of service in the Loudoun County community; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to The Arc of Loudoun as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for its achievements in the fulfillment of its mission and best wishes for its continued success.
