24105139DBe it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 18.2-465.2 as follows:
§ 18.2-465.2. Contact with jurors after trial prohibited; penalty.
A. No party, other than counsel for any party to the litigation or the press, shall knowingly and intentionally contact a juror after a jury trial unless such party has received an order from the court that oversaw such trial permitting such contact. The court order shall prescribe the manner of contact that such party is allowed to have with a juror.
B. A pro se defendant shall be subject to the provisions of subsection A.
C. A violation of subsection A is a Class 1 misdemeanor.
D. A violation of a court order issued pursuant to subsection A is a Class 1 misdemeanor.
