SUMMARY AS PASSED:
Unmanned aircraft systems; trespass over correctional facilities; penalty. Prohibits any unmanned aircraft system from (i) dropping any item within the boundaries of or (ii) obtaining any videographic or still image of any identifiable inmate or resident at any state or local correctional facility or juvenile correctional center without consent or authorization. A violation of this prohibition is a Class 1 misdemeanor. This bill is identical to HB 2020.
SUMMARY AS PASSED SENATE:
Unmanned aircraft systems; trespass over correctional facilities; penalty. Prohibits any unmanned aircraft system from (i) dropping any item within the boundaries of or (ii) obtaining any videographic or still image of any identifiable inmate or resident at any state or local correctional facility or juvenile correctional center without consent or authorization. A violation of this prohibition is a Class 1 misdemeanor.
SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Unmanned aircraft systems; trespass over correctional facilities; penalty. Prohibits any unmanned aircraft system from coming within 400 feet of the lateral boundaries of any local or state correctional facility, as defined in § 53.1-1, or juvenile correctional center without consent or authorization. A violation of this prohibition is a Class 1 misdemeanor.
