WHEREAS, Douglas William Rogers, an honorable veteran, accomplished business executive, and beloved member of the Locust Grove community, died on September 10, 2022; and
WHEREAS, after attending Midlothian High School in Chesterfield County and the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Douglas “Doug” Rogers served his country with honor and distinction as a member of the United States Air Force; and
WHEREAS, following his time in the service, Doug Rogers earned a master’s degree in business administration from Loyola University Maryland and embarked upon an illustrious 30-year career in the management division of IBM; and
WHEREAS, Doug Rogers lived throughout the country during his career and later settled in Orange County, where he took a leading role in the community, including as president of the Lake of the Woods Association and as chairman and interim director of the Germanna Community College Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, Doug Rogers greatly fostered the prosperity of Orange County as president of the Orange County Chamber of Commerce, chairman of the Orange County Economic Development Authority, and facilitator for the Orange County East End Economic Development Group; and
WHEREAS, Doug Rogers was a dedicated advocate who was committed to his conservative values, serving nine years as chairman of the Orange County Republican Party; and
WHEREAS, beyond his family, Doug Rogers took immense joy in education, football, literature, woodworking, and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and Virginia Tech sports teams; and
WHEREAS, guided through his life by his faith, Doug Rogers enjoyed worship and fellowship with his community at Lake of the Woods Church in Locust Grove for many years; and
WHEREAS, Doug Rogers will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 59 years, Brenda; their children, Donna and Kelley, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Douglas William Rogers, a cherished member of the Locust Grove community whose strength, courage, resilience, and love for his family and country were an inspiration to all who knew him; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Douglas William Rogers as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
