HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 649 Commending Senior Services of Alexandria.

WHEREAS, the nonprofit organization Senior Services of Alexandria and its dedicated volunteers and staff will celebrate the organization’s 55th anniversary in 2023; and

WHEREAS, since 1968, Senior Services of Alexandria has been serving older adult residents of Alexandria with programs and services to enable them to age with dignity in their own homes; and

WHEREAS, Senior Services of Alexandria offers residents improved nutrition through Meals on Wheels and Groceries to Go programs, companionship through its Friendly Visitor and “AniMeals” on Wheels programs, transportation through its DOT paratransit program, and a robust education and outreach program that includes over 100 senior ambassadors in the community; and

WHEREAS, the dedicated volunteers and staff of Senior Services of Alexandria provide the necessary leadership and experience to help older adults residing in Alexandria live a full and enriched life; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Senior Services of Alexandria on the occasion of its 55th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Senior Services of Alexandria as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude to the organization for its commitment to the residents of Alexandria.
