SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Local government self-insurance pools. Amends provisions related to local government self-insurance pools by providing that the definition of "political subdivision" includes entities owned, operated, or controlled by one or more localities or authorities rather than by a single locality or authority. The bill also expands the definition of "political subdivision" by including other types of entities, including any corporation or organization supported wholly or principally by public funds. The bill further provides that an agency of the Commonwealth that has the statutory authority to procure insurance, participate in insurance plans, or provide self-insurance shall not be required to obtain the prior written consent of the Governor to join a self-insurance pool.
