A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered 10.1-202.3 and by adding in Chapter 32 of Title 23.1 an article numbered 1.1, consisting of a section numbered 23.1-3200.1, relating to military personnel; free admittance to state parks, museums, and cultural institutions.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 10.1-202.3 and by adding in Chapter 32 of Title 23.1 an article numbered 1.1, consisting of a section numbered 23.1-3200.1, as follows:

§ 10.1-202.3. Military personnel; free entry into state parks.

Any active duty member or member of the reserves of any branch of the United States Armed Forces, and any dependent of such member, shall be permitted to enter any state park without having to pay a parking or admittance fee by presenting a Department of Defense-issued identification card. The active duty member or member of the reserves shall accompany any dependent under the age of 18 in order for the dependent to receive free admittance.

Admission to Museums and Other Cultural Institutions by Military Personnel.

§ 23.1-3200.1. Admission to Museums and Other Cultural Institutions by Military Personnel.

Any active duty member or member of the reserves of any branch of the United States Armed Forces, and any dependent of such member, shall be permitted to enter any museum or cultural institution of the Commonwealth without having to pay a parking or admittance fee by presenting a Department of Defense-issued identification card. The active duty member or member of the reserves shall accompany any dependent under the age of 18 in order for the dependent to receive free admittance.
