Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 3.2-807.1 as follows:
§ 3.2-807.1. Dissemination of consumer information about noxious weeds and invasive plants.
The Commissioner shall, by January 1, 2023, develop a model sign for use by retail establishments that sell plants in the Commonwealth that explains the value of plant species native to the Commonwealth and the harm of noxious weeds and other invasive plants. The Commissioner shall also develop a model label that may be used for the wholesale and retail sale of plants. Such label shall include the plant's common and scientific name and an indication as to whether the plant is native to the Commonwealth or invasive to eco-regions that include the Commonwealth.
