Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 9.1-207.2 as follows:

§ 9.1-207.2. Prohibition on use of certain oriented strand board.

A. As used in this section:

"Class A fuel materials" includes wood, straw, and paper products.

"Fire service training activities" includes fire service training schools and flashover simulators.

"Local government" includes any locality, fire district, regional fire protection authority, or other special purpose district that provides firefighting services.

"Oriented strand board" means wood products containing poly-methylene diphenyl diisocyanate, which release toxic by-products when burned.

B. No person, local government, or agency of the Commonwealth shall use Class A fuel materials that contain oriented strand board during fire service training activities.

C. No provision of this section shall restrict the manufacture, sale, use, or distribution of Class A fuel materials that contain oriented strand board for other fire or local government operations.
